Domain Setting for Short URL:

Short domain purchased and managed by Masiv:

Masiv offers the possibility to acquire the short domain according to the need, therefore the management and handling are in charge of Masiv, the request process is clarified below:

1. The request must be made through a ticket addressed to [email protected] requesting the acquisition of a short domain and that it is managed by the Masiv team.
2. Subsequently, a list of possible available short domains is offered, every short domain acquired comes with an SSL certificate, this guarantees that communication takes place through the secure port 443 https protocol, additionally specify the customer account id.

<aside> 💡 This configuration implies an additional cost because the domain must be acquired from a domain provider together with the SSL certificate.

Short domain purchased and managed by the Client:

When a short domain is managed by one of our clients and wants to be used within the Links product, the necessary configurations must be made to direct the traffic of that short domain towards our Links redirection components.

• Points to bear in mind:

  • The short domain should not be being used by the client.

  • The short domain should be a maximum of 25 characters.

  • The short domain should be a root domain and not a subdomain as this makes its configuration easier and does not go against the definition of short domain.

• Configurations that must be applied from the client side:

  The different pointing options are described below according to the need; root domain: it is necessary to create an A record; subdomain: it is necessary to create a CNAME record.

  1. Pointing from the root domain example: dominio.co Record Type: A Record name: dominio.co Value: 3.33.208.53, 15.197.217.248 TTL: 900
  2. Pointing from a sub-domain example: sub.dominio.co Record Type: CNAME Record name: sub.dominio.co Value: ma.sv TTL: 900

Network Team Process:

Once the Masiv network and infrastructure team confirms the creation and configuration of the short domain or the SSL certificate of the short domain managed by the client has been imported into the AWS accounts of Links, the Links team must be informed to finalize the respective configuration for the domain, How is it done?, by assigning the ticket to the Links team who will be in charge of making the respective configuration in the client's account.

IMPORTANT: By company security guideline a SSL certificate of the short domain managed by the client must be requested, if for some reason there is no SSL certificate, it should be clarified to the client that a vulnerability is opened since the communication will be made through an unsafe port. The client must request the SSL certificate of the domain to be used (Crt, key and Ca-bundle), if there is any concern at this step please lean on the network and infrastructure team as they are the ones who have the necessary knowledge for these configurations; once this SSL certificate is obtained, send a request to the network and infrastructure team to import said certificate into the AWS account of Links.
